New higher level stewardship option rewards native breed grazing - Wednesday, May 07, 2008
HLS Option HR2 rewards grazing with native breeds (sheep, cattle, equines and goats) at risk at up to £70 /ha. This option recognises that some native breeds are well suited to harsh climatic conditions, difficult terrain, grazing semi-natural vegetation and achieving conservation objectives. The supplement is also designed to make a contribution to the genetic conservation of native breeds at risk.
Bluetongue vaccination programme starts - Wednesday, May 07, 2008
Bluetongue vaccine is now ready for use in the Bluetongue Protection Zones. Contact your vet to place an order for vaccine if you have not already done so. The message is "Don't hesitate, vaccinate". At the end of April 2008 there were 127 confirmed premises affected by Bluetongue.
